WHAT IS A TUMMY TUCK?

The skin on the abdomen can loosen after patient has had significant weight loss and/or pregnancy.

Tummy tuck surgery removes excess fat and skin and, in some cases, restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anaesthesia Type: General (patients are asleep)

Duration of Surgery: 2-2.5 hrs

In/Outpatient: Patients go home the same day

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: This can be a painful surgery so it depends on the type of work patients do. Time off from work can range from 1-4 weeks, but most commonly 2 weeks. Patients are advised to wear an abdominal binder for up to 6 weeks after surgery to reduce swelling, support their stomach muscles, and achieve the best possible results

Final Results: Generally at 3 months with the scar lightening to normal skin colour usually by 1 year

Post-Operative Medication: Patients are given both pain killers and antibiotics for management

Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery

WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?

Despite diet and exercise, there are some areas of persistent fat that are difficult to shed. Liposuction surgically reduces localized pockets of fat and effectively refines the body’s shape.

Liposuction can be performed on almost any area of the body, but our most popular targeted areas include: abdomen, thigh, neck, upper arms, and back.

Advantages of having Liposuction include:

  • Natural looking body fat distribution
  • Fat cells are removed which means it’s impossible to gain weight in the treated areas
  • Enhanced self esteem
  • Overall improved health: better mobility, lower triglycerides, increased libido, prevention of obesity-related health problems.

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anesthesia Type: Anesthesia will depend on the scope of the procedure. If a small area is being treated, it is possible the patient would receive sedation, but most times a general anesthetic is administered.

Duration of Surgery: This is fully dependent on the number of areas being treated and the size of those areas.

In/Outpatient: After some time in the recovery room, the patient is able to go home the same day as surgery.

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: The patient will return to work within 2-5 days but should wait four to six weeks before any vigorous activities. Compression garments will help to reduce the swelling and are required for up to six weeks following surgery.

Final Results: After the initial swelling subsides, the patient will see dramatic improvement after three to six months of the procedure. It could take up to a full year to realize the final result.

Post-Operative Medication: Pain medication may be prescribed and a compression garment must be worn.

Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery and the patient’s individual concerns

WHAT IS AN ARM LIFT?

Fluctuations in weight, older age, and heredity can cause the upper regions of your arms to have a sagging appearance. This, unfortunately, cannot be corrected through exercise.

An arm lift is a surgical procedure that reshapes the under portion of your inner arm, from your armpit to elbow region and leaves a visible scar on the inseam of the upper arm.

It does this by:

  • Reducing excess sagging skin that hangs downward
  • Tightening and smoothing the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anaesthesia Type: Mostly under general (patients are asleep) unless very limited surgery (under local)

Duration of Surgery: 1.5-2 hrs

In/Outpatient: Patients go home the same day

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Most patients take about a week off from work but need to wear a garment for activity for at least 4-6 weeks. Full recovery is expected by 6 weeks

Final Results: Expected by 3 months

Post-Operative Medication: Patients are given both pain killers and antibiotics for management

Pricing: Standard for all patients unless very limited surgery is done which can then also be performed under local anaesthesia

WHAT IS A THIGH LIFT?

If exercise and weight loss have not helped you achieve your goals for a firmer and more youthful looking thigh then a thigh lift may be right for you.

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that reduces the excess skin of the upper thigh. If there is a minimal amount of loose skin the incision can be along the top of the thigh along the upper thigh crease, or for more significant loose skin the incision is on the inner thigh from the upper thigh to the knee.

It does this by:

  • Reducing excess sagging skin that hangs downward
  • Tightening and smoothing the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape

Patient dependent and best discussed with Dr. Matic. Most procedures are performed under local anaesthetic and prices vary based on size, quantity and locations of scars.

WHAT IS BODY FAT TRANSFER?

Over time, the body gradually losses volume. Fat transfer uses fat cells from the patient’s body to reverse this effect.

The benefits of fat transfer include:

  • Structural support to soft tissue

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anesthesia Type: General anesthesia is used for body procedures.

Duration of Surgery: This varies depending on the procedure, but typically 1 – 2 hours

In/Outpatient: Fat transfer is typically performed in one to two hours with patients going home the same day.

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Patients are typically back to regular activities within a week. Downtime is minimal with some swelling and bruising lasting 1-2 weeks.

Final Results: You will start to see immediate results, but the final result should be visible by 3 months

Post-Operative Medication: Painkillers are often given as well as antibiotics

Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery and the patient’s individual concerns
