Our exceptional team remains on the cutting edge of non-surgical facial procedures and experts in facial injectables. Our extensive knowledge and extraordinary results have earned London Plastic Surgery a reputation as one of South Western Ontario’s premier destinations for facial fillers.
Our goal is to help patients look like a healthier, more refreshed version of themselves, subtly adding volume and shape to accentuate each patient’s best features and give them a rejuvenated appearance. We will never complete a procedure that we feel will create an unnatural or artificial result.
Our injectable and facial filler specialists Yolanda Sharp RN and Mariam Zabian RN bring years of experience and extensive training to their approach. Each filler or injectable product is viewed as a unique tool used to address a specific area of the face. With our main principle “less is more” in mind, each drop is applied with an explicit goal for a subtle, natural-looking result. Our conservative approach ensures the results are never overdone.
What is Injectable Dermal Filler?
As we age, our skin loses its volume, hydration, and elasticity, all of which we need in order to promote a youthful, healthy-looking appearance. Dermal fillers can restore these qualities, replenish volume and smooth away fine lines. This process can also correct small imperfections such as shallow scarring and facial asymmetries.
Dermal Fillers or Facial Fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid. This is a naturally occurring sugar in our bodies, which acts like a sponge; keeping your skin hydrated, plump and supple. Over time, your body’s level of this substance decreases which causes your skin to lose its firmness and fullness. Using a filler, which is a temporary and non-surgical procedure, will give volume and smooth small crease resulting in a younger, refreshed, and rejuvenated appearance.
As the most requested procedure at London Plastic Surgery, our team uses only the best products available and approved by Health Canada. Their experience has lead them to use names like Juvederm, Teosyal, Teosyal RHA, Redensity II, Voluma, Volbella and Volift – all of which have an excellent safety record.
Our Expert Injectors
Our products are only as effective as the person performing the procedure. The team at London Plastic Surgery brings years of experience and training to each patient with a blend of artistry and science to complete a natural result. Our Advanced Nurse Injectors have trained with and work under the direct supervision of Dr. Matic and stay up-to-date on the latest techniques and products. In fact, our team teaches other surgeons, family physicians, and nurses about proper and leading-edge injectable filler techniques.
Each patient will receive a complimentary consultation which allows our qualified professional an opportunity to discuss the concerns, desired outcomes and options available to achieve them. They will create a unique plan specific to the patient’s needs. Our team will never over-inject or perform a procedure that will create an unnatural result.
What is Involved in a Dermal Filler Treatment?
Dermal filler treatments are brief, non-invasive and have immediate results. It’s no wonder they are our most requested procedure! Most appointments last between 30 – 60 minutes, depending on the needs of the patient. Our designated team member will provide topical freezing before the process. Also, most injectable fillers contain lidocaine which acts as a freezing agent and will help make the procedure more comfortable.
Occasionally, there may be minor swelling and possible bruising following a dermal filler injection but it typically peaks within the first 24 hours. Some patients may experience mild swelling for up to 10 days but this is not unusual and will resolve itself. Normal activities, including exercise, can resume within 24 hours following the treatment.
We advise avoiding anti-inflammatory drugs (Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.), as well as Aspirin, vitamin E, Ginseng, and Ginkgo Biloba for approximately 2 weeks before the appointment to help prevent possible bruising.
How Long Does Dermal Filler Last?
Facial injectable fillers replenish the natural hyaluronic acid which is lost over time. So, despite the great results of this procedure, the results are not permanent. Depending on the area of focus, fillers typically last from six to eighteen months.
Because we are constantly moving our mouths whether it’s eating or talking, the hyaluronic acid is metabolized much faster. That means that lip augmentation usually lasts about six months. However, dermal filler will last longer in other areas of the face that do not move as much.
Some of the premium products we depend on are clinically proven to stand the test of time. Voluma, Volift, and Volbella are the longest lasting dermal fillers on the market today, lasting approximately 18 months.
Hyaluronic fillers are biodegradable and therefore, reversible. Although it happens very rarely, a solution is available if a patient is not satisfied with their final result. A product called hyaluronidaise can be used to quickly melt the injectable filler and the patient will return to their pre-injection appearance within an hour.
This procedure usually stems from a patient being unhappy with a procedure done by inexperienced hands.
What is the Cost for Dermal Fillers?
One of the most common questions about injectable fillers is how much it will cost. The answer depends on several variables. The first consideration is the filler itself. There is a wide range available from many brands which gives people flexibility in their cost. London Plastic Surgery carries a range of high quality products.
The second consideration is the reputation of the Professional Injector. Often there are discount deals on fillers as an inexperienced Injector works to build a client base and hone the craft.
As of 2020 our injectable price per syringe is $550 to $700 depending on the area injected.
Where Can Dermal Filler Be Used?
Our professional team can use their expertise to complete the following enhancements:
- Lip Augmentation (as known as Lip Plumping) This process restores the structure of the lips, creating a defined lip.
- Non-Surgical Nose Job (Nose Filler) Using dermal filler in the nose will create a beautiful profile or a bridge without Rhinoplasty surgery.
- Cheeks A contoured cheekbone can be created by restoring volume with an injectable filler.
- To treat fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. These lines are easily smoothed by providing volume and rejuvenating the area.
- Nasolabial Folds Dermal filler can help diminish deep lines that form along the sides of the mouth and cheeks.
- Temples When hollowing has occurred around the temples, facial fillers can help balance the area.
- Chin This process will add definition and volume where the chin might be lacking
- Jawline Dermal fillers will help restore a more defined jawline and soften jowls
- Under the Eyes Over time, hollowing under the eyes can create a tired, aged look. An injectable will replenish the area, adding a youthful lift.
InjectionsFine lines and wrinkles can be reduced with minor procedures of cosmetic injections. There are two strategies to using injections. The first is to relax muscles in a targeted area, resulting in a refreshed, rested appearance. Botulinum toxin type A is used for this type of procedure – commonly known as Botox™. The second is to fill out the wrinkles by naturally plumping the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body. When injected, this restores volume, hydrates skin and boosts the body’s collagen production. Hyaluronic acid is used in both dermal fillers and lip fillers. Dermal fillers, or facial fillers are used to instantly restore, or add volume, to specific areas of the face to enhance your natural features. Lip fillers add temporary volume and definition to lips.
WHAT ARE LIP FILLERS?Much like dermal fillers, hyaluronic acid is used to plump the lips. This sugar is found naturally in the body and when injected to target areas, it hydrates cells to create a nice full look. Lip fillers help with:
