WHAT IS EYELID SURGERY?

Eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids making patients look less tired. It can be performed on either the upper or lower lids, or both.

Eyelid surgery can treat:

  • Bags under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids
  • Loose or sagging skin that results in folds and disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the eyelids

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anaesthesia Type: Usually under local but can be done under general (patients are asleep) particularly when combined with other procedures such as a face lift

Duration of Surgery: Usually 1-1.5 hrs for either upper or lower eyelids and up to 2-2.5 hrs when both upper and lower lids are done

In/Outpatient: Patients go home same day and are seen by Dr. Matic 24-48 hrs after

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Usually patients take about a week off work due to bruising, and once the skin is healed, make-up can be used to hide bruising and red scars. Back to normal function by 3 weeks

Final Results: Expected by 2-3 months

Post-Operative Medication: Most patients just need to ice the eyes for 24-48 hrs and do not need pain killers other than Tylenol or ibuprofen. Antibiotics are often not necessary

Pricing: Standard for upper or lower eyelids. Some discount applies if both done at the same time or if combined with another procedure

WHAT IS A RHINOPLASTY?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve facial harmony and the proportions of your nose. It can also correct impaired breathing caused by deviations of the nose which may include the midline portion (septum) or the bones themselves.

Rhinoplasty can change:

  • Nose size in relation to overall proportions of the face
  • Nose profiles with noticeable bumps or depressions
  • Nose width at the bridge
  • Nostrils
  • Nasal tip
  • Nasal Asymmetry

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anaesthesia Type: General (patients are asleep)

Duration of Surgery: 2-3 hrs

In/Outpatient: Patients go home the same day and are seen by Dr. Matic in 7 days for cast and suture removal

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Patients are usually off work or school for about a week, some may need 10-14 days. The nose is generally healed by 6 weeks and this is enough to return to normal activity including sports

Final Results: Swelling, especially in the tip, can take a long time to resolve so final result is generally said to be one year from the surgery but at 3 months things look very close to final result

Post-Operative Medication: Pain killers and antibiotics are given

Pricing: Depends on the extent and/or type of procedure

WHAT IS NECK LIFT SURGERY?

Loosening of the neck can be caused by a variety of factors, such as heredity, gravity, environmental conditions, and stress.

Neck Lift is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck. It can improve things such as:

  • Loose neck skin and muscles
  • Excess fat and skin relaxation in the lower face that creates jowls
  • When the neck area doesn’t match the upper facial appearance, a neck lift may be a good solution

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anaesthesia Type: Most often done under general (patients are asleep) or sometimes under deep sedation

Duration of Surgery: 3-5 hrs

In/Outpatient: Patients go home same day and are seen by Dr. Matic the next day

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Most patients take about 1-2 weeks off from work and are wearing make-up by the second week and are back to normal activity by four weeks

Final Results: Expected by 3 months

Post-Operative Medication: Patients are given both pain killers and antibiotics for management (generally pain killers are only needed in the first few days)

Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery and the patient’s individual concerns

WHAT IS FACE LIFT SURGERY?

Sagging and skin laxity in the face can be caused by a variety of factors, such as heredity, gravity, environmental conditions, and stress.

Face Lift is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the face and neck. It can improve things such as:

  • Sagging skin in the middle and lower part of your face
  • Loss of skin tone in the lower face that creates jowls
  • Loose skin under the chin and jaw that gives even a person of normal weight the appearance of a double chin

Final Results: Expected by 3 months

Pricing: Standard for all patients

WHAT IS CHIN CORRECTION?

The jawline is a principal feature that, together with the nose, defines the facial shape and profile. Genioplasty, or chin implants, will restore a weak or recessed chin, improving the overall shape of the face.

Chin implants can:

  • Improve contours of chin, neck, jawline
  • Create a natural, attractive balance between facial features
  • Prevent jowls from forming
  • Reduce the appearance of a “double”chin
  • Give predictable and permanent results

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anesthesia Type: Most are performed under general anesthesia.

Duration of Surgery: Approximately 1.5 hours

In/Outpatient: Patients go home same day. A bandage or small dressing may cover the chin for up to 10 days.

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Recovery is usually quick and discomfort is minimal. Food should be liquid-to-soft for a week to avoid excessive chewing during the healing process. Patients can return to most daily activities within 7 days while strenuous activities should resume within 3 to 4 weeks.

Final Results: Expected by 3 months

Post-Operative Medication: Patients are given both painkillers and antibiotics (generally pain killers are only needed in the first few days) Patients should also use an oral rinse once per day.

Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery and the patient’s individual concerns: Most are performed under general anesthesia.

WHAT IS FAT TRANSFER?

Over time, the face gradually losses volume which can result in fine lines, wrinkles and a prematurely aged look. Fat transfer uses fat cells from the patient’s body to reverse this effect.

The benefits of fat transfer include:

  • Structural support to soft tissue
  • Restores cheek contours
  • Minimizes creases and hollowness around the eyes

DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY

Anesthesia Type: Mostly local anesthesia is used.

Duration of Surgery: This varies depending on the procedure, but typically 1 – 2 hours

In/Outpatient: Fat transfer is typically performed in one to two hours with patients going home the same day.

Length of Recovery and Return to Work: Patients are typically back to regular activities within a week. Downtime is minimal with some swelling and bruising lasting 1-2 weeks.

Final Results: You will start to see immediate results, but the final result should be visible by 3 months

Post-Operative Medication: Painkillers are often given as well as antibiotics

Pricing: Can vary based on the type and extent of the surgery and the patient’s individual concerns
