What is Breast Implant Removal Surgery?

Breast implant removal surgery is the procedure required to take out breast implants that have been put in place during breast augmentation. The surgery is designed for patients who no longer want breast implants or have experienced complications or defects with implants, such as a shift, a leak or unexpected pain. During the procedure, our skilful surgeon make an incision under your breast or around your areola then take out the implant and remove any scar tissue around the area. The procedure is similar to breast implant replacement surgery and is sometimes combined with a breast lift to help maintain a youthful figure. Breast implant removal typically takes 1–3 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia, meaning the patient is asleep. It’s an outpatient procedure, so patients usually go home the same day as the surgery. Limited physical activity is recommended for 1–2 weeks after surgery and strenuous activity should be avoided for six weeks.
