What is Breast Implant Replacement Surgery?

Silicone and saline breast implants don’t expire but there is a possibility you’ll need to replace yours after 10–20 years. At that point, breast implant replacement surgery is required. Implants need to be changed for a variety of reasons that can arise, including cosmetic issues, complications and defects. During the procedure, our skilful surgeons make an incision under your breast or around your areola, take out the current implant, remove any scar tissue around the area and safely insert a new implant in its place. Breast implant replacement surgery typically takes 1–3 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia, meaning the patient is asleep. It’s an outpatient procedure, so patients usually go home the same day as the surgery. Limited physical activity is recommended for 1–2 weeks after surgery and strenuous activity should be avoided for six weeks.
