Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. The procedure corrects sagginess and improves nipple position that can change over time due to aging, pregnancy or weight fluctuation. Breast lifts do not make the breast larger, just perkier, so the surgery is commonly performed with breast augmentation.
A breast lift typically takes 1.5–2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia, meaning the patient is asleep. Patients go home the same day as the surgery and usually take a week off work. A return to full activity can happen sometime within 4–6 weeks of the procedure. Final results of a breast lift can be expected by three months.

This can vary depending on the patient. You could experience a decrease in sensitivity, heightened sensitivity or numbness in the nipple area. These changes may be temporary right after surgery, and you may regain normal sensation after your breasts stabilize.
