Gynecomastia is a condition of overdeveloped or enlarged breasts in men due to increased glandular breast tissue. Gland removal is a method of gynecomastia surgery, or male breast reduction, during which excess glandular breast tissue is removed through an incision around the areola, resulting in a flatter chest. Gland removal surgery typically takes 2–4 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia, meaning the patient is asleep.
